Postcards from Opatija, Croatia

Hello guys!
It's been a while since I did a "postcards" blog post and I'm sorry about that because I honestly love sharing with you my fave places or new places that I visit.

So I thought I'd bring back the "Postcards" this time I'm taking you to a wonderful little touristic town called Opatija, located in Croatia in the Kvarner region. Opatija is also a place I consider my home. It's situated very close to my hometown (sometimes it seems they're one town as they lay right next to eachother in a Kvarner bay). This is where I spent my childhood days (numerous walks by the sea with my parents), and also my high school days (I opted for touristic school that is located in Opatija). Each morning I'd travel 30 min by bus, but I loved the school and I loved spending my time in such beautiful surroundings.

We, as a family, spent a few days at our home in Croatia and so we took the opportunity to go and have a little walk by the sea! It was very warm, even in evening time (which is quite unusual for this time of the year). Opatija was filled with people, students and tourists from Japan and other distant countries. I loved the atmosphere that was in the air. I remember Opatija being much more quiet in the late '90s when I was attending the school there.

One of the symbols of Opatija is this statue of a woman with a seagull but Opatija is also very famous for its health tourism and wonderful parks with egzotic plants and trees from all over the world.

Even though in winter time, the climate here can be quite harsh, in Opatija there are some tropical plants that prosper regardless of the icy cold wind and the constant rain.

My son absolutely enjoyed this evening walk. Where we live in Italy, we have only fields, so we learned to appreciate these sights even more. And the salty sea air is much healthier!

Here we are on another walk by the sea, this location is called Skalete and it's in Rijeka, but overlooking the coast of Opatija.

We tried to make the most out of our short stay in Croatia, even though it was more of a business trip than anything else. But every minute free that we got, we tried to spend by the sea, and all together as a family. Sebastian's grandma (my Mum), also came to visit and joined us for a walk!

This time we didn't vlog much, but next time I promise to vlog for you guys, so I'll even visually be able to bring you a little taste of my home.

I'll talk to you soon,

Old Holiday Vlogs Re-uploaded!

Hey guys!

You might know, a few months ago, I've decided to delete my vlog channel, and transfer all my vlogs to my MissFashionKitty channel, where I also upload videos related to fashion, style, food & diet...
If you haven't subscribed to this channel yet, please take a moment to do that NOW, I'm sure you won't be dissappointed, as I upload very frequently, and always try to cover a variety of different topics! :)

Anyway, I had three more old vlogs left to transfer to my MissFashionKitty channel, and I've decided to do this now.
These are old holiday vlogs, about my Christmas and New Year's adventures...I didn't want to delete them, because I'm fond of them (I actually watched them before re-uploading, and remembered some really nice moments!)

I'm hoping to be able to do a new vlog for you guys soon! :)
Maybe on the occasion of my upcoming trip to Croatia...we'll see!

OOTD: Travelling to My Summer Vacations Destination!

Hello girls!

Here is what I wore for my trip to the island of Rab.
There I spent my summer vacations :)

It's a beautiful croatian island, and I often vacation there.
I used to live there when I was a child, and I still have some good family friends there, so it's always nice to visit!
Rab feels like home :)

Just before my trip, I filmed a quick OOTD video, I wanted to show you guys how I like to travel: being casual, but still with a trendy twist ;)

Check out my video here:

It took us less than 3 hours to arrive to the island, and the trip included a short (15min) ride on the ferry.
It is always windy on the ferry, so for that occasion, I brought with me this light fabric, "Chanel style" jacket, from Stradivarius fashion store.

Here are just a few pics that we took during our trip:

My hubby on the ferry

On the ferry...mainland is behind me.

On our way to my happy place :)

For this trip, I wore:

Chanel style jacket: Stradivarius
White tank top: Bershka
Boyfriend fit shorts: GAS (those were actually my hubby's jeans when he was a teenager. We cut them into a shorts and now I enjoy wearing them!)
Bag: H&M
Sunnies: H&M
Earrings: Promod

I hope this inspired you if you're about to go on a trip and wondering what to wear, to be comfy, yet stay stylish ;)

Sunday Trip: The Mountain of Cansiglio & the Caves of Caglieron

Hello you lovely people! :)

I hope you all had a nice weekend & an even better start to a new week :)
Yesterday, I spent an amazing day with my hubby and my father-in-law!
It was a very hot and humid day where we live, so we ran out of the town in a search for a fresh air and beautiful landscapes, at a nearby mountains of our Veneto region.
We headed to the mountains of Cansiglio (you can find out a little bit more about the wonderful Cansiglio forest here!)

Here are some of the pics we've taken yesterday:

Me & my father-in-law

Undressing, as it was pretty warm :)

Smiling... :)

Trendy accessories even in the mountains!
My must-haves, always! ;)

Beautiful nature!

I <3 the mountains!

Breathtaking view!

Stella Alpina, Runolist or Edelweiss, a protected flower that nowadays
is really rare, almost extinct!
It grows in the mountains and prefers rocky limestone places at 2000–2900 m altitude.
We've found it at cca 1500 m altitude!

Happiness...is to live, to breath, to experience...

Since I was a child, I was obsessed with horses!
Simply <3 these animals!
I was so excited that we actually saw Edelweiss flower in the mountains!
As I've said, nowadays these flowers are very rare and they're protected.
My grandmother gave me an Edelweiss flower many years ago (I still have it in my memory book), she picked it up long before it became a protected specie.
I've never seen it actually growing from the earth so I was amazed at how gorgeous it was!
I could have stared at it for hours, just mesmerised by its beauty!

Here is a bit more about Edelweiss:

The alpine Edelweiß, which in the German language means noble and white, is found generally at altitudes from 1700 meters to 2700 meters.
Edelweiss prefers calcareous light soils with excellent drainage and southern exposure, where it likes to form herbal mats, growing from 8 cm to 20 cm tall.Edelweiss flowers are classified as   short lived perennials, which after being picked during a number of growing seasons from the same plant, are unable to propagate by seeding and will disappear from an formerly established area.

Find more about the beautiful & rare Edelweiss flower here!

On our way back, we stopped at the resort of Breda di Fregona, near Vittorio Veneto, to visit

The complex of the Caglieron caves consists of a very deep gorge cut into the calcareous rock of the Caglieron torrent, and of a series of man-made caves in the canyon walls.

It reminded me on a setting of Goonies, the movie!

Inside of the caves!

A waterfall behind me :)

I filmed a vlog from my yesterday's trip, so you can follow me around & enjoy all these beautiful sights with me!

Enjoy watching ;)

xx Sonja
