REVIEW: Kerastase K Ultime Oléo- Complexe/ Trattamento Sublimatore Multi- Uso all' Oléo- Complexe

Hello girls!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! As usual, I was busy at work, therefor the lack of blog posts! :(
But here am I today, just returned home after an afternoon spent at hairdresser :)
A day of pampering myself, one would think...but actually, I really don't like goint to the hairdresser that much!
I force myself to go there every two months, when my dark roots start showing too much, lol

I think I personally take better care of my hair at home, than any hairdresser ever did in a hair salon!
But, I do leave the colouring to the professionals as I do have high requests when talking about my hair colour, and given the fact that I'm naturally way darker, I don't want the risk of turning some strange yellow, or orange colour, or even worse, damaging my hair in the process of highlighting it.
So, I always leave this part to the expert hands.

What bothers me about going to the hairdressers in general, is that they're always in a hurry ( I can understand that- time is money for them), and my hair, being so long & difficult to detangle, requires some extra time...
I always cringe at the thought how they always detangle my hair in a harsh way, when just a little bit of detangling spray & a wide tooth comb would "work magic".
And then, when blowdrying, they use the maximum heat..ughhh
I truly hate that part! I wish I could leave the hairdresser's salon with my wet hair & continue the rest at home (detangling, blowdrying, straightening...)

How do you feel about that?
Did you ever experience similar problems?

Anyways, my today's visit to the hairdresser inspired me to do this blog post, about one product that I've been loving so much when talking about my hair care, and that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to have a healthy, beautiful looking hair!

Kerastase K Ultime Oléo- Complexe

I bought this product a few months ago, at my local hairdresser's salon & I have nothing but extremely positive superlatives to say about this hair care product!

My hair after today's visit at the hairdresser.

Kérastase Elixir K Ultime has become one of the
essential products in my hair care routine.
There are actually more than two different ways of how one can use this oil (remember, this is a product that won't leave your hair oily or greasy and it won't weigh it down. It is an oil, but it's a non-oily formula!):
- I like to use it after I'm done blowdrying & straightening my hair, I use one pump and distribute the oil evenly on the lenghts of my hair.

- You can also use it before blowdrying your hair, apply it on a towel dried hair, but in this case I would avoid  straightening your hair with a hair straightener. It would be like frying your hair I guess...ughh
Definitely something to avoid!
This method I'll be using in the summer, when I'll let my hair dry naturally & wear it wavy.

- I also like to use this product as a hair mask (before shampooing my hair).
I'll take 4 -5 pumps (bare in mind that my hair is extra- long, but if you have shorter hair, you'll need less than that!), massage the product in my roots and distribute it on the lenghts.
I'll leave it like this for about 30 min. (but you can leave it less, if you don't have much time on your hands, even 5-10 min. will do!)
Then I'll proceed with washing my hair, blowdrying etc.

- The best tip is actually the one my hairdresser gave me! You can also apply this oil on your roots before actually colouring or highlighting your hair.
This will protect your hair from the damage it can be caused when colouring the hair.
This is a little something I've been doing every time before going to the hairdresser to get my highlights done!

This oil costs around 34 €, it is expensive, but you know I wouldn't recommend something so expensive if I weren't truly in love with it!
My miracle product ;) That I want to share with you :)
Bare in mind that it is super concentrated as all Kérastase products are, so this is something that is going to last you for months & months!
I've had mine for over 4 months now, and you can see how much I've used it on the pic above (& I've really been using it very frequently!!!)

I hope this was helpful girls!
I wish you all a beautiful, healthy & shiny hair ;)

xoxo Sonja

REVIEW: Kerastase Nutrition& Revlon Professional

I know, I know, I constantly rave about how I adore Kerastase products...I could go on& on about this topic and you'd probably get sick of me telling you about the miracles Kerastase products do to my hair...
BUT I can't help myself, it's SO TRUE!!! I realized I never actually sat down to do a proper review on my absolut FAVES, so now it's about time to do so, I guess :) ...

It's not that I'm some kind of hair care products snob& only use the expensive products for my hair care!
I do use drugstore brands as well.
Occasionally, when I want to switch a bit my haircare routine, or when I'm low on my budget, I'll buy Schwarzkopf products (their shampoos, conditioners& masks are among the best when talking about drugstore brands), I also love Wella and L'oreal...occasionally I'll buy Herbal Essences too.

I have tried so many haircare products BUT, especially when talking about conditioners, deep conditioners and intensive nutrition hair masks, there is no other brand that can compare with Kerastase!(in my experience)

Recently, I went to the hairdresser to get my highlights& lowlights done& like usual, I stocked up on some hair care products that I ran out of.
I needed a good shampoo, intensive nutrition conditioner& a good detangler (my hair gets tangled up sooo easily, by the end of the day it's scary...I usually say I have a nest in my hair LOL ughhh!)

This time, I purchased a shampoo from Kerastase Nutritive line:

Bain Satin Dosage Gluco- Active 2
Complete nutrition shampoo for dry,
sensitised hair.
This shampoo is actually very moisturizing too, I love the way it feels when I'm shampooing my hair with it.
It is highly concentrated so I'll use only a nut size of the product on my hand and lather it up with water.
This contains 250 ml (8.5 fl.oz.) of the product& it usually lasts me 2 months, sometimes even more (btw, I wash my hair cca 3 times a week, occasionally even more often than that!)

However, a good nutrition conditioner is A MUST for my hair!
This time, I went for the Kerastase Nutritive Thermo- reactive intensive nutrition conditioner:

Fondant Nutri- Thermique
For very dry and sensitised hair.
This product is relatively new on the italian market, however, this is not the first time I'm buying it.
I already had it a few months back& I loved it.
Sometimes, after using a drugstore conditioner, I still can't manage to detangle my hair& I feel like crying.
This product is extremely moisturizing& it gives my colour-treated hair much needed nutrition.
I never have ANY problems in detangling my hair after having used this conditioner :)
This is a rinse- out product.
The interesting part of this particular product (and all the products from the Nutri- Thermique line) is that with heat, this product reaches the maximum of its efficiency, it releases all the active ingredients that make your hair soft, shiny and healthy!
It contains 200 ml (6.8 fl.oz.) and this usually lasts me up to one month!

Another product that is my MUST-HAVE and always an essential part of my haircare routine is a good detangler!
I have tried many, but the best one is definitely this one from Revlon Professional line:

EQUAVE 2 phase
volumizing conditioner with
grape and green tea.
This product is sold in hairdressing salons exclusively, and it's sold as a leave-in volumizing conditioner.
However, this works miracles when talking about hair who "likes" to tangle, it's my best detangler!
It also contains UVA/B solar filters that act as a hair's active defense against oxidation, solar radiation and environmental pollution.
It softens, smoothes the hair fiber and makes hair easy to detangle.
Contains Keratin Proteins which give volume and strength to fine or weak type of hair.
Before applying it, you need to shake it well to mix the two phases.
It's supposed to be applied to shampooed and towel- dried hair.
This contains 200 ml of the product, and it usually lasts me, I should say, 6 months or so.

Yesterday, at the supermarket, while doing my weekly grocery shopping, I spotted this hair elastics and I immediately liked them:

by "Mitsie Nature",
made of the
Organic Cotton
I liked them because, as you can see from the pic, they don't have any metal parts.
This means they're safer for your hair, there is no risk of your hair getting stuck between the metal parts& get damaged that way.
These come in: all black, green& beige, or beige& brown (the ones that I've chosen for myself).
They are sold in a set of 8 elastics and the price is 2.50 € (per set, of course, not per elastic! lol)
I'm just loving these so much, I thought I should share my enthusiasm :)

So these are my new haircare goodies:

My high recommendation:
Revlon professional if your hair gets tangled a lot,
Kerastase products to keep your hair healthy, and,
these "Mitsie Nature" hair elastics, "cruelty free" for your hair!
:)
I hope you found this review helpful!

Hair Update: Highlights& Lowlights In My Hair& Mini Hair Care Haul

Hello girls!

The ones of you who never miss my "hair updates" vids& posts, will know by now that I'm not exactly a natural blonde hehe ;) BUT my hair isn't that dark either...
If you look at my eyebrows, you'll notice that they're actually quite light &I never ever coloured them.
So I'm naturally more towards the blonde than towards the dark hair colour...
I've been colouring my hair blonde since the days when I was living in London (2004./'05.)
When I returned back from London, I did have a phase where I coloured my hair darker, but it didn't last for a long time, because just after one month, or even less, I started adding highlight to my hair again.
When I went darker, I felt as if "somebody has turned the light off..." I swear, I can't explain you this feeling better than with these exact words! :)
I guess I just feel my best when I'm blonde!
However I don't like to be too blonde, so every once in a while, I'll ask my hairdresser to add some lowlights to my hair.
I usually go to do my colour every two months& honestly, I'm not one of those people who get really upset at a first sight of a regrowth& darker roots showing.
I never coloured my entire hair blonde, I just always do highlights, so I'm kind of used to always having to deal with my darker roots (sometimes I'll add lowlights too, just like I've said, when I'm feeling that I'm becomming too blonde, sometimes I'll do a colour to my roots after having done the highlights- in this case, they leave the colour on my roots for 5 min. or less, just to lift up the colour& make it appear more uniform with the highlights).
Personally, I prefer having both highlights& lowlights in my hair, I think it looks better, more natural& I actually like the contrast of the two colours creating a play of light in my hair :)

So recently I paid a visit to my hairdresser and here is what my thoughts were after returning home:

I also did a reconstructive treatment by Redken:

Redken Classic P.P.T."S-77" Protein Treatment - 33.8oz

This highly concentrated professional only fomula fortifies damaged hair. Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers amino acids, proteins and ceramides to help repair damaged hair. Porosity is reduced; Cuticle protection is added. Can be blended with other Redken concentrates to create custom formulas.

And, I did a mini haul, I bought just a few hair care products that I really needed!

Me enjoying my haircare haul ;)

I ran out of the shampoo& conditioner; I usually prefer to buy Kerastase products just because they REALLY make a difference to my hair!
Plus, they're highly concentrated so they do last a long time, much longer than a regular drugstore brands.

This time, I bought:
  • Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin Dosage Gluco- Active 2 (Complete nutrition shampoo for dry, sensitised hair)
  • Kerastase Nutritive Fondant Nutri- Thermique (Thermo- reactive intensive nutrition conditioner for very dry and sensitised hair)
  • Revlon Professional Volumizing Conditioner Equave 2 phase (With grape and green tea) for fine/weak hair
(I really needed a good detangler, and this one by Revlon is my must- have!!!)

I hope you enjoyed my little haircare chit-chat, if you have any hair/haircare related questions, feel free to post it to me under this post, on comments section :)

What is the colour of YOUR hair?
How long is your hair?

I'll talk to you soon,
xoxo Sonja
