Top 3 Fashion Districts in Montreal

Montreal in Canada is not only a beautiful city to spend holiday, it is also a fantastic shopping destination. The city is considered as the hub of fashion and culture in the Quebec province. It is the kind of city where the fashion scene is pretty intense and if travellers are looking for retail therapy, they will get plenty of it in the city’s top 3 fashion districts, which are best covered on foot.

Chabanel (Garment District)

While this fashion district is called the Garment District, it is more popular by its name ‘Chabanel’, which is the main street in the district. This street houses buildings that are occupied by manufacturers, agents, importers and buyers. People can visit the district on Saturdays from 9 am until 1 pm, but there are a few that are open throughout the week and are willing to do business even for extended hours. So, come armed with your credit cards to get great bargains and deals on some of the best fashion wear in the city. You will find fashion wear for all ages, but select carefully, as majority of the warehouses and sellers have a no-return policy on the products sold. Located close to the Meilleur Street is the 555 Chabanel Building, which houses importers from France in a mall-like concourse.

Rue Sainte Catherine

Sainte Catherine is much like the Times Square in New York City. It is home to many fashion giants and icons, including Gap, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Sephora, Armani Exchange and Lululemon. You can even use your credit card to pick up some lovely designer shoes and jewellery to go with the high-end outfits you buy here. There are many shopping malls, department stores and chain stores to keep even the most skeptical shopper busy in this place.

Underground City

Located in Downtown Montreal, Underground City is the network of complexes, above and below the ground, and has a wide collection of fashion wear from the likes of Jacob, Aldo, Garage, Dynamite and La Vie en Rose. It is easily accessible by metro and is worth spending a day here, especially if the weather outside is not to your liking. Officially known as RESO, Underground City can satisfy any shopaholics’ need to buy fashion wear and accessories that matches any outfit or attire.
